Liga Super: JDT to Sixth Straight Win over Terengganu
Southern Tigers cruise 3-0 at Gong Badak as goalkeeper Syihan saves a second-half penalty
Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) extended their perfect start to the 2026/27 Super League season with a 3-0 win over Terengganu FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, on Sunday.
It was JDT’s sixth league win in as many matches, taking them to 18 points. Terengganu suffered their second league defeat of the season.
Terengganu coach Nafuzi Zain paired imports Denis Ngweni and Pape Diakite at centre-back to shore up the defence. JDT named Bergson and Jairo da Silva in attack, with Arif Aiman and Oscar Arribas providing pace on the wings.
JDT had the possession and Terengganu waited to hit them on the counter. Haziq Kutty had the visitors’ best early chance after getting past the JDT centre-backs, but his shot went just wide.
JDT’s pressure told in the 25th minute. Bergson got past the Terengganu offside trap and fired a hard shot that goalkeeper Suhaimi Husin could not stop.
Arribas made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute, finishing off a quick free kick from Jorge Medina.
JDT brought on Corbin Ong for Arribas at the start of the second half, and Terengganu replaced Ngweni with Habib Haroon. Terengganu had a chance to get back into the game in the 64th minute, when Gervane Kastaneer was fouled in the box. But Mateus Gustavo’s penalty was saved by JDT goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi.
Substitute Stoichkov missed a good chance to extend the lead in the 82nd minute. Iran’s Shahab Zahedi then sealed the win in the 88th minute with the third goal, finishing off Arif Aiman’s pass.
JDT are now three points clear of Selangor, who won their fifth league game in a row on Saturday.
